Tim came to KHW with over 20 years experience in social services in Washington State. His familiarity during that time with juvenile offenders, families with child abuse and neglect, Native American services, adoptions, and out-of-home care for children has given him a strong sense of the pain that people experience, and the limitations of our society to help with those problems.
Tim holds a firm conviction that Biblical Counseling is a powerful resource that believers are just beginning to tap. He has especially appreciated Nancy Missler’s work in understanding how a believer can take specific, Scriptural steps to enter God’s Love, wisdom, and power. The answers to society’s ills are first of all spiritual, and it falls to the church to demonstrate those answers on a personal and corporate level, under the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
For about 12 years, Tim served Grace Bible Church of Diamond Lake, in Newport, Washington as a pastor-teacher. (The model for the church did not have a senior pastor, but recognized plural leadership by elders meeting Biblical qualifications. All were bi-vocational.) He was ordained by the church as a minister in recognition of how God had used him in the body and community. Years earlier, Tim also helped form a fellowship in Western Washington that has continued to the present.
Seattle Pacific University is where Tim earned a B.A. with a double-major in Sociology/Social Services and Psychology. He also completed foundational courses in Bible as part of the degree. Over the years, Tim has continued his education in the Bible with independent reading and study, as well as classes and seminars on a variety of topics. He has also completed the Bronze level of study with the Koinonia Institute.
Tim and his wife of 30 years have three adult sons and three grandchildren. They live in the Coeur d’Alene area of North Idaho, near the Washington border. Living where elk, eagles, and moose are common, along with spectacular mountains and lakes has been a special blessing for their family.
